Worth Living

by Shayla McDaniel

/

about

No matter what you think or how you feel, you matter and you’re worth it. Don’t give up. Carried by airy, mellow guitar riffs over a relaxed drum beat, bursting into a soaring and anthemic chorus, “Worth Living” offers encouragement to those who are considering giving up on life with the simple reminder that life is worth living.

Shayla McDaniel is releasing “Worth Living” on September 4, leading up to World Suicide Prevention Day (September 10) and US National Suicide Prevention Week (September 6 - 12). McDaniel penned the song to encourage people who struggle with depression or suicide, especially during this global pandemic.

lyrics

I want to see all of your hair
Crown your head in silver
I want to see it all fall out
But I need you here around

Please don’t believe the lies
Lodged inside of your mind

Your life is worth living
Please don’t leave me behind

I want you to go to the store
And flash your senior discount card
For the things that old people buy
Discount your groceries not your life

Please don’t believe the lies
Lodged inside of your mind

Your life is worth living
Please don’t leave me behind

So I’m taking your sharps and ties
You won’t be using our keys tonight
I’ll always be right by your side
We’ve got to keep you alive
